No. 2 CCSF handles No. 18 Gavilan, host Cabrillo in regional final

SAN FRANCISCO – City College of San Francisco is one step closer to reaching the state championships for the eight straight season. On Saturday, the No. 2-seeded Rams held off No. 18 Gavilan College by a final score of 72-63 in a second-round game of the Northern California Regional Playoffs.

CCSF, now 24-5 overall, will host No. 7 Cabrillo College in a regional final game next Saturday (Mar. 9) at 7 p.m. Ticket prices for the California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) postseason game at Brad Duggan Court are $12 for general admission and $8 for all identified students, faculty, staff, senior citizens age 60 and over, and children under 12 years old. On Saturday, Ray John Spears led CCSF with 14 points in the win over Gavilan. King-Jhsanni Wilhite added 12 points and D'Aunte Johnson chipped in with 10 points.

Cabrillo improved to 24-5 overall with its 97-79 playoff victory over No. 10 Fresno City College on Saturday night to advance. Cabrillo and San Francisco will be meeting for the first time this season.

A win over Cabrillo would send the Rams to the 3C2A State Championships scheduled for March 15-17 at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut. CCSF last won a state title in 2022 and has captured five in the program's history (1962, 2011, 2016, 2018, 2022).
