SAN FRANCISCO – City College of San Francisco got off to a fast start but couldn't withstand a late-game rally by College of Sequoias and ultimately fell in overtime by a final score of 27-24 on Saturday at George M. Rush Stadium.

CCSF built up a 17-0 lead in the second quarter. Eric Waugh tossed a 68-yard touchdown pass to Bryson Waterman with 1:10 to go in the first quarter, Ryan Rodas booted a 25-yard field goal at 10:52 in the second, and capitalized on a bad Sequoias punt that led to a quick six-yard TD run by Feiamma Armstrong at the 7:16 mark in the second to cement momentum on its side.

The Rams' defense was solid in the first half, holding the Giants scoreless. With COS driving down towards the San Francisco goal line, the defense held tough by forcing a fumble that was recovered at the CCSF one-yard line.

But on the next play, the Rams' Andre Tarver Jr. was tackled inside the end zone for a COS safety. San Francisco took a 17-2 lead into halftime.

Sequoias went on to outscore CCSF 22-7 over the second half. A 27-yard interception return for a touchdown by COS' Derrick Jones gave the Giants their first lead of the game at 24-17 with 6:52 to go in the fourth quarter.

The Rams responded with a six-play, 60-yard drive to tie up the contest. Richard Washington ran in from 11 yards out to even up the game at 24-24 with 4:40 to play.

In overtime, the Rams were called for three penalties on their possession, including a costly offensive pass interference, and weren't able to come away with any points.

Sequoias' kicker Lucas Cords, who missed a potential game-winning 29-yard attempt just moments earlier, knocked in a 26-yarder in the Giants' overtime try to seal the COS victory.

Waugh had a tough game, completing just 9 of 27 passes for 155 yards with a touchdown. Armstrong led the Rams on the ground with 11 carries for 98 yards and a TD. Waterman hauled in 3 receptions for 102 yards and a touchdown.

On defense, Jalen Camp had a big game with 17 tackles. Sonny Vitale had 11 tackles and Kadin Roberts totaled 10 tackles.

The loss dropped San Francisco to 0-2. The Rams will look to earn their first win next Saturday (Sep. 21) when they host Butte College in a 1 p.m. non-league game.
