Rams Water Polo earn seven All-Coast Conference postseason awards

Seven members of the City College of San Francisco women's water polo team were recently honored by Coast Conference coaches with postseason accolades.

Heading the list are sophomores Melanie Lazaro and Melanie Beavan-Szabo. Lazaro was named first-team All-Coast Conference North Division while Beavan-Szabo was a second-team selection.

Also for the Rams, sophomore Samantha McEvoy, freshman Shera Campini, freshman Zoellen Eichen, freshman Melanie Poncet, and sophomore Shannon Fracchia-Santelli were all honorable mention selections.

The Rams wrapped up a difficult 2021 season with a 1-10 overall record and went 0-5 in Coast Conference play. Despite the final record, CCSF water polo coach Natalie Taylor was extremely proud of the growth of her team this season.

"This season we were focused on improving as a team and improving individually at skills and game knowledge," said Taylor. "While our record may only display one win, I personally feel we had many smaller wins amongst ourselves, including learning dropped defense, building confidence in shooting, improving our hole set turns, drawing ejections, and becoming better communicators in and out of the pool. Many of our athletes are newer to the game of water polo, so we are proud to have them recognized in the All-Coast Conference North Division teams and honorable mention."
