Rams cruise to sweep of Copper Mountain, split matches in Modesto

MODESTO – Led by an impressive 13 aces by Cyenna Amina, the City College of San Francisco women's volleyball team dominated Copper Mountain College in a 3-0 sweep as part of the Modesto Junior College Quad.

The Rams were able to bounce back after a tough 3-0 loss earlier in the day to host Modesto.

Copper Mountain had a tough time with CCSF's serves as the Rams tallied an amazing 35 aces on their way to the 25-5, 25-10, 25-10 victory.

Amina added 4 kills to her big match while Mary Shunashi Hernandez-Elorza led CCSF with 7 kills and 10 digs and added 6 aces of her own.

Maihli Hunkin totaled 7 aces, 3 digs, and paced the offense with 13 assists.

The win over Copper Mountain snapped a six-game CCSF losing streak.

The Rams couldn't get much going in their 25-13, 25-7, 25-9 loss to Modesto. Hernandez-Elorza led the Rams with 4 kills and 6 digs while Dayana Gonzalez had 3 kills and 2 digs.

The Rams moved to 2-9 overall after the day's action. CCSF returns to the court on Wednesday (Sep. 18) when it will take on Butte College (4 p.m.) and Mendocino College (6 p.m.) in non-conference matches at Mendocino.
