
SAN FRANCISCO – The No. 4-seeded City College of San Francisco women's tennis team battled but came up short in a tough 5-4 loss to No. 5 Modesto Junior College in the opening round of the Northern California Regional Playoffs.
The Rams close out the 2025 dual team schedule with a 10-4 overall record.
CCSF got off to a great start, taking a 3-0 lead after claiming all three doubles matches. The duos of Elizabeth Au/Linda Geballe (No. 1, 8-2), Rita Williams/Trevor Wade (No. 2, 8-5), and Sara Hwang/Vanessa Chi (No. 3, 8-3) were all victorious in one set.
But Modesto rallied to take five of six singles contests to pull off the match win. Chi picked up the lone CCSF victory at No. 4 singles, winning 6-2, 6-3 over MJC's Josie Bohn.
The matchup at No. 2 singles ultimately decided winner as the Pirates' Arianna Medina defeated CCSF's Amy Niles in three sets (6-1, 4-6, 6-1).
Up next, the Rams will look to qualify for the 3C2A State Championships as singles and doubles teams will compete at the Coast Conference Championships starting on April 10 at Ohlone College.
