SAN FRANCISCO – The City College of San Francisco women's tennis team opened the postseason on Tuesday with a 7-2 win over visiting No. 5-seed Fresno City College in an opening round team match of the Northern California Regional Playoffs.

CCSF, the No. 4 seed, will next travel to Sacramento to face top-seeded American River College in the Northern California semifinals next Tuesday (Apr. 16).

Tuesday marked the second win of the season by San Francisco over Fresno City. CCSF opened the competition by taking all three doubles matches to go up 3-0.

In singles, San Francisco got individual victories from Ariel Xu at No. 1, Devan Ponce at No. 3, Pam Dineva at No. 5, and Michelle Lee at No. 6.

CCSF and American River will be facing off for the second time this season. Just last week (Apr. 2), ARC defeated the Rams by a final score of 8-1. The Rams need two more wins to advance to the 3C2A State Championship team final.

But up next for the Rams is the Coast Conference Championships, scheduled for Thursday-Saturday (Apr. 11-13) at Chabot College.

Xu is the tourney's No. 1 seeded individual while CCSF's Christina Ling is seeded No. 4. In doubles, the duo of Ling and Linda Geballe are seeded No. 4 for the tournament.
