SACRAMENTO – City College of San Francisco sophomore Ariel Xu continues to cement herself as one of the top women's tennis players in the state.

On Tuesday, Xu picked up her biggest win of the season, a 2-6, 7-6 (10-7) victory over state No. 1-ranked Nahreen Cheam in a No. 1 singles match against Northern California's top-ranked American River College.

Xu's win was the lone victory for the No. 4-ranked Rams in a tough 8-1 loss at American River.

According to CCSF head coach Mary Graber, Xu's win should secure her the No. 1 seed for the upcoming 3C2A State Championships.

The loss dropped the Rams to 10-3 overall. CCSF, currently 8-0 in Coast Conference play, is schedule to close out the conference schedule with a match Thursday (Apr. 4) at Cabrillo College and at home on Friday (Apr. 5) against Cañada College. Both are scheduled for 2 p.m. start times.
