SAN FRANCISCO – The City College of San Francisco women's tennis team returned to the court for its second match of the 2024 season. After opening the year with an 8-1 win at Foothill College on Tuesday, the Rams returned home and suffered a 6-3 loss to visiting Sierra College on Friday.

CCSF's Ariel Xu won both her matches on the day. She was a 6-3, 6-3 winner in her No. 1 singles match and teamed with Christina Ling to win at No. 1 Doubles by a final score of 8-4.

The No. 3 doubles team of Pam Dineva and Katelyn Lao picked up the Rams' final point, taking their match by a score of 8-5.

The two teams met in the postseason last year. CCSF came out on the losing end of an 8-1 match to Sierra in the semifinals of the Northern California team playoffs.

Despite the loss, San Francisco head coach Mary Graber drew a positive from the match.

"It was good to face a strong non-conference opponent early in the season," Graber said. "We will be ready for them next time."

The Rams are back in action next week for a pair of Coast Conference matches on the road. CCSF is at Chabot College on Tuesday (Feb 13) and heads to West Valley College on Friday (Feb. 16). All matches are set for 2 p.m. starts.

CCSF's next home match will be against Cañada College on Feb. 20 at 2 p.m.
