Tran leads CCSF to 20th-place finish at State Championships

COSTA MESA – An impressive 2024 City College of San Francisco women's swimming season came to a close with a 20th place showing at the 3C2A State Championships. The three-day event took place on May 2-4 at Orange Coast College in Southern California.

Freshman Sophia Tran closed out an outstanding first season for the Rams by earning three top-7 finishes to earn 25 of the Rams' 55 total team points.

She broke her own school record in the 100-yard breaststroke, swimming 1:07.47 for sixth place to beat her previous best time of 1:08.09 set at the Coast Conference Championships.

Her best showing came in the 200-yard breaststroke, as she took fifth with her time of 2:27.46. And in the 200-yard IM, she clocked in at 2:15.59 for seventh place.

Freshman Lian Mar, the Rams' other individual qualifier, was 11th overall in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.00.

CCSF's three relay teams finished among the state's top-16. The 400-yard medley relay team of Tran, Mar, Serawit Ezra, and Sarah Tanabe had the best showing, taking 10th overall at 4:12.96. The 200-yard medley squad of Tran, Remy Dizon, Mar, and Hillary Hong swam 1:55.76 for 12th place while the 400-yard freestyle team of Tran, Mar, Ezra, and Tanabe was 16th at 3:48.71.
