Rams put together impressive weekend at Cuesta Invitational

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Led by a pair of first-place showings by freshman Sophia Tran, City College of San Francisco totaled 255.50 points to finish in eighth place out of 18 teams at the highly-competitive Cuesta College Invitational. The meet is considered one of the top in the state prior to the state championships.

Tran was double-event winner in 100 and 200 breaststroke. Her time of 2:31.18 in the 200 breaststroke set a new school record. She is just one second off from breaking a 1989 CCSF record in the 100 breaststroke. She won the event at Cuesta with a time of 1:10.17.

According to head coach Phong Pham, she is the Rams' first individual winner at the meet since 2018.

Tran's current state rankings in the following events 5th in 100 breast, 3rd in 200 breast, 18th in 100 fly, 12th in 200 IM).

Other impressive results for the Rams included Remy Dizon achieving the 18th fastest time in state for 100 backstroke; Serawit Ezra achieved the 20th fastest time in state for 200 backstroke;

The CCSF Relay current state rankings: 800 free relay 18th in state; 200 medley 14th in state; 400 medley 12th in state.

CCSF returns to the pool at Friday (Mar. 15) when the Rams will compete against Hartnell, Cabrillo, and Ohlone colleges in a Coast Conference meet in Salinas.
