SAN FRANCISCO – The No. 12 state-ranked City College of San Francisco women's basketball team began its run towards an eighth straight Coast Conference North Division title with a narrow 65-64 win over visiting No. 20-ranked College of San Mateo on Wednesday.

It was battle between both teams throughout the contest. CSM took a one-point lead into halftime (34-33) before the Rams jumped out in front by outscoring the Bulldogs 16-9 in the third quarter. CCSF was able to hold off a late San Mateo surge in the fourth to hang on for the win.

Madison Thomas had a big game off the bench for the Rams, posting game-highs of 18 points and 9 rebounds while Deonna Mayfield was solid in the victory with 17 points.

Deanna Ayo added 12 points and Ariel Petalver chipped in with 11 points and 4 assists.

San Francisco improved to 12-5 overall and returns to action on Friday (Jan. 12) with a 5 p.m. Coast Conference North Division game at Chabot College.
