Rams improve to 2-0 with shutout at Napa Valley

NAPA – Sophomore Xavier Alexander Elder continued his impressive start to the season by scoring twice in City College of San Francisco's 3-0 win at Napa Valley College on Tuesday.

The Rams are 2-0 to open the 2024 season after last week's 4-0 rout at Contra Costa College.

Elder has recorded five of CCSF's seven goals this season.

At Napa Valley, he put away his first goal in the 42nd minute to extend the Rams' lead to 2-0. Elder closed out the win with a second-half goal in the 67th minute.

Lesperance Pierre also scored the Rams, giving CCSF and early 1-0 lead in the 13th minute.

Goalkeepers Calvin Dang (8=0 minutes0 and David Gallegos (10 minutes) combined for the shutout, the second in two games for the Rams.

In San Francisco's season opener on August 30, Elder made his presence felt by scoring the Rams' first three goals on his way to a hat trick at Contra Costa College.

Elder scored in the sixth, 32nd, and 72nd minutes while Romeo Ribeiro closed out the scoring with his goal in the 83rd minute.

Dang posted 2 saves in the shutout for the Rams.

CCSF is back in action on Tuesday (Sep. 10) when the Rams travel to Lake Tahoe Community College for a 5:30 p.m. non-conference game.
