Rams bounce back to post wins over MPC, West Valley

SAN FRANCISCO – Coming off a tough week that saw the City College of San Francisco men's soccer team drop consecutive games, the Rams were able to turn things around by winning both its Coast Conference games.

On Tuesday, CCSF cruised to a 4-1 victory at Monterey Peninsula College and followed that up with a 3-2 win over visiting West Valley College on Friday at home. The Rams improved to 7-5 overall and moved to 3-3 in Coast Conference play.

Four different Rams scored to beat MPC. Christian Kercher and Henry Estrada had first-half goals while Oliver Cortes Guillen and Pierre Lesperance scored in the second to close out the win. Edwin Garcia posted 2 saves over 70 minutes and Calvin Dang had a save over 20 minutes in goal for CCSF.

On Friday, CCSF stormed out to a 3-0 lead before West Valley scored a pair of goals late to make things interesting. Kercher had a pair of goals, scoring in the 13th and 59th minute while Xavier Alexander Elder broke free to score in the 42nd.

West Valley's Max Robles scored in the 75th and 87th but the Rams were able to hold on for the win. Garcia totaled 5 saves in goal for CCSF.

The Rams are back in action on Tuesday (Oct. 17) when they travel to Hartnell College for a Coast Conference game.
