SAN FRANCISCO – Alejandro Palos' goal in the 71st minute would prove to be all the offense No. 7-seed City College of San Francisco would need to defeat No. 10 Evergreen Valley College 1-0 on Saturday in a second-round game of the Northern California Regional Playoffs.
Goalkeeper Fernando Escobedo was outstanding and totaled 6 saves in leading the Rams to their 10th shutout of the season. With the win, CCSF improved to 14-4-1 overall.
The Rams move on to Round 3 where they will travel to take on No. 2-seed Taft College next week on Tuesday (Nov. 22) at 2 p.m. Taft, now 14-3-3 overall, was a 5-0 winner over No. 15 Foothill College in its second-round game on Saturday.
Two more wins are needed by CCSF to advance to the 2022 CCCAA State Championships on Dec. 2 & 4 at American River College in Sacramento.
