Rams score twice in second half to beat Foothill 2-0

SAN FRANCISCO – Georgi Stoyanov and Sergio Laguna both scored second-half goals to help lead City College of San Francisco to a 2-0 Coast Conference North Division win over visiting Foothill College on Tuesday.

The Rams, 9-3 overall, currently lead the Coast North Division standings at 4-2 (8 points) and hold a slight advantage over second-place Cabrillo (3-1-1, 7 pts.).

On Tuesday, CCSF and Foothill battled during a scoreless first half before the Rams finally broke through in the 65th minute. Stoyanov took the long pass from goalkeeper Fernando Escobedo and beat the Foothill keeper for the goal and 1-0 lead.

Laguna added an insurance goal in the 72nd to secure the San Francisco victory.

Escobedo totaled a pair of saves in goal to post the Rams' second straight shutout and fourth of the season.

The Rams return to action on Friday (Oct. 21) when they travel to West Valley College for a 4 p.m. game.
