While the City College of San Francisco men's soccer team is still undefeated through the first six matches of the season, the monthof September has yielded nothing but ties.

Still, as the team prepares to kick off Coast Conference play in October, Rams head coach Adam Lucarelli sees every match so far as a good barometer of sorts to gauge exactly where his team is at.

"Conference play will be challenging as five to six teams from our conference usually make the playoffs," Lucarelli said. "So, there are good teams to try and beat."

In their last matchup, a 2-2 tie against a talented Santa Rosa Junior College squad at home on Tuesday, Marcelo Reis De Jesus and Takumi Elbert each scored goals for CCSF. For Elbert, it was his team-leading 3rd goal of the season.

Santa Rosa were able to equalize in the 90th minute with a goal of their own, keeping the Rams from claiming their first victory of September. The Rams also finished with a 1-1 tie last Friday at American River College.

"SRJC was a battle between two traditional powerhouses in NorCal," Lucarelli said. "It was a good test to see how we match up."

The Rams will begin their Coast Conference schedule next Tuesday when they travel to Fremont to take on the Ohlone Renegades (0-6-2). They will then travel to Los Altos Hills next Friday and face a big test from Foothill College (5-1-1).

For Lucarelli, ramping up the Rams' scoring attack will be critical to staying competitive in the Coast Conference.

"We are struggling a bit with finding a striker that can finish consistently," Lucarelli said.

Through 11 games played, the Rams have averaged 1.8 goals per game, while allowing just 1.17 goals per game.
