The City College of San Francisco men's soccer team won back-to-back days on Friday and Saturday by defeating the Gavilan College Rams 5-0 and Napa Valley College Storm 4-2, respectively.
CCSF (5-0-2) dominated visiting Gavilan (2-8) by controlling the match with possession soccer. For most of the game, the Rams were either holding possession or were attacking on Gavilan's side of the field. The Rams totaled 13 shots on goal compared to Gavilan's two shots on goal.
The scoring started early for CCSF when freshman forward Karan Gurung hit an amazing top-shelf goal off an assist by freshman midfielder Alejandro Jauregui at the game's six-minute mark. This was followed by another Jauregui-assisted goal when sophomore forward Mark Estevez scored three minutes later.
The Rams' final three goals came by way of a hat trick by freshman forward Alejandro Perez. Perez scored at the 55 minute (assist by Taiki Kajitani), 72 minute (assist by Austin Ramirez) and 77 minute (assist by Fabian Wence).
CCSF's 4-2 win against Napa Valley College (4-3) didn't come as easy as Friday's win over Gavilan.
"Our team was feeling a little lethargic and tired from playing the day before. We had the 2-0 lead early in the first half but they tied it at the end of the half," Lucarelli said. "Although the team was tired, we eventually refocused and battled through for the win."
The Rams and Storm were tied 2-2 going into the second half until Perez put the Rams up for good at the 65-minute mark when he scored a goal off an assist by sophomore midfielder Ramario Gomez. Perez added another score at the 88 minute when freshman midfielder Adam Shadrack found Perez for his second goal of the day.
The Rams travel to Ohlone College on October 3 for a 4 p.m. match.
