HOUSTON – A former City College of San Francisco standout is making a name for himself on the national stage.

Darrion Trammell, a member of the unbeaten 2019-20 CCSF Rams men's basketball squad, is one win away from celebrating an NCAA title with San Diego State University. The Aztecs will face the University of Connecticut on Monday in Houston for the national championship.

Trammell was a first-team All-Coast Conference North Division selection for a Rams squad that compiled a 30-0 overall record. The season was cut short just prior to the start of the 2020 CCCAA State Championships because of the COVID pandemic.

Trammell went on to star at Seattle University for two seasons, twice earning first-team NABC All-District 6 and first-team All-Western Athletic Conference honors as a sophomore and junior.

He transferred to San Diego State for his senior season and has played a key role to the success of the Aztecs and their March Madness postseason run. Trammell has started 36 of 37 games heading into the season finale and is averaging 9.7 points, 3.0 assists, and 2.4 rebounds per game.

In SDSU's 71-64 Elite 8 win over Alabama, Trammell scored a game-high 21 points to help lead the Aztecs to the Final Four.

Trammell, originally from Marin City and a Saint Ignatius College Prep grad, will have plenty of support from back home while he's playing in Texas. CCSF coaches Justin Labagh and Adam D'Acquisto as well his high school coach, Rob Marcaletti, are in Houston for the Final Four to cheer him on. | Darrion Trammell's San Francisco Coaches Follow Star on Dream March Madness Run
