Title: Assistant Head Coach / Defensive Coordinator

Coach Larry Grant returns to CCSF to serve as Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator. Grant was previosuly the linebackers coach and full-time Special Teams Coordinator. In Coach Grant’s first year at CCSF, he worked primarily with the running backs while also Co-coordinating the Special Teams.

In Coach Grant’s 1st season as the running backs coach, CCSF earned nine Division 1 scholarships, in addition Coach Grant had 1 running back who earned 1st team All State Utility Player and earned an athletic scholarship to University of Cal-Berkeley.

Coach Grant graduated from Foothill High School in Sacramento, CA before attending Junior College at City College of San Francisco where he was voted a two-time 1st Team All Conference, 1st Team All State, 1st Team All American, Conference Defensive Player of the Year, State Defensive Player of the Year, JC Defensive Player of the Year, and National Player of the Year. After graduating from CCSF Coach Grant earned an athletic scholarship to The Ohio State University playing under Hall of Fame Coach Jim Tressel. At The Ohio State, Grant earned two All Big Ten honors and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts & Science in African American Studies. Grant was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the seventh round with the 214th overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. Grant also played for the St. Louis Rams, Chicago Bears and Cleveland Browns.

A Bay Area native, Coach Grant was raised in San Francisco and currently resides in Daly City with his wife Kristen Grant and children Isaiah D., Baby Larry, and Lillian.
