OAKLAND – After a slow start to the 2024 season, City College of San Francisco seems to be turning things around at the right time.

For the second straight week, the Rams played a complete game on both sides of the ball and improved to 2-0 in the Bay 6 League thanks to a 38-7 victory at Laney College on Friday night.

Daytuawn Pearson had a huge game as he scored 3 rushing touchdowns over the first half to help CCSF get out in front early. Pearson scored on TD runs of 7, 1, and 13 yards while his last TD extended the Rams' lead to 21-0 with 4:06 to go in the second quarter.

CCSF went into the break with a commanding 28-0 advantage thanks to a long 47-yard TD pass from Christian Banks to Cameron Johnson with just 1 second remaining.

Laney (2-5, 0-2 Bay 6) finally broke up the scoring surge with a 12-play, 72-yard drive that ended with a 1-yard TD run by Simeon Milan in the third quarter.

CCSF got a 33-yard field goal from Ryan Rodas in the third and Chikala Warden iced the Rams' victory with his 75-yard interception return for a touchdown early in the fourth.

Pearson ended the game with 64 yards on 15 carries. Banks threw for 117 yards (6 for 11, 1 TD) while also running for 63 yards on 10 attempts.

The Rams' defense was just as impressive in the contest as it totaled sacks, 3 interceptions, and recovered a fumble.

Warden had 2 of the Rams' 3 interceptions while Sonny Vitale also had a pick. CCSF got sacks from Kai Banks, Jalen Camp, Davion Smith, and Javonnie Haymon.

CCSF improved to 2-5 overall. The Rams will look to keep the momentum going next Saturday (Nov. 2) when they host rival College of San Mateo in a 1 p.m. Bay 6 League game.
