ROCKLIN – City College of San Francisco totaled season-highs with 481 offensive yards and 336 yards rushing but the Rams' defense couldn't contain Sierra College in a 43-35 road loss on Saturday.

The Rams' got huge games on the ground from the duo of running back Daytuawn Pearson and quarterback Christian Banks. Pearson carried the ball 15 times for 164 yards with a touchdown while Banks totaled 158 yards and a TD on 18 attempts.

But Sierra scored early and often. The Wolverines opened the scoring on their second possession. But that was followed by a quick strike from the Rams to tie it up. A big 76-yard run by Pearson led to a 1-yard TD rush by Richard Washington three plays later the even up the game at 7-7 at the 7:30 mark in the first.

Sierra took over from that point, putting up 21 unanswered points to go up 28-7 with 9:17 left in the second. That would prove to be the difference as the Rams' defense couldn't get a stop after CCSF would respond with a touchdown.

Washington added another 1-yard touchdown run and Pearson broke in for a 3-yard TD before halftime to send the Rams into the break trailing 36-21.

But Sierra came right back to score a rushing touchdown in the third to extend its lead again to 22 points (43-21). CCSF answered with a 1-yard TD run by Pearson to close an 11-play, 87-yard drive in the third. And Aden Jackson hauled in a 50-yard touchdown pass from Banks to close out the Rams' scoring.

Banks was impressive in his first big action of the season under center. Along with his 156 yards rushing, he completed 6 of 18 passes for 110 yards with a TD and no interceptions.

Jalen Camp once again led the Rams' defense with 14 tackles while Derek Reagans had 8 tackles and a sack.

CCSF dropped to 0-5 on the season. The Rams will have a bye next week and are back in action on Oct. 19 when they host San Joaquin Delta College in the National Bay 6 League opener. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
