SAN MATEO – A shot at another perfect season came to an end for City College of San Francisco after a 44-17 loss at rival College of San Mateo on Saturday.

But a chance at a state championship is still likely within reach for the Rams. With just one loss during the regular season, CCSF with a 9-1 overall record should likely receive the at-large and No. 4 seed for the upcoming Northern California Regional Playoffs.

Postseason matchups will be announced on Monday with NorCal playoff games scheduled for Nov. 25.

On Saturday, all signs pointed towards the Rams picking up the win over San Mateo after they got off to an early 10-0 lead. Joseph Oliveira booted a 27-yard field goal to open the scoring and Dorian Hale broke free for a 40-yard touchdown run at the 7:05 mark in the first quarter.

After a scoreless second quarter, CSM responded by scoring 28 unanswered points to put the game out of reach. CCSF receiver Hassan Mahasin caught a 4-yard TD from Jack Miller early in fourth quarter to break up the Bulldogs' scoring run, but CSM closed out the contest by putting up the final 16 points of the game.

Despite the loss, Max Rodarte once again stood out for the Rams. He hauled in 5 catches for 107 yards while Mahasin had 7 receptions for 73 yards and a TD.

On defense, Rocky Katoanga led with 9 tackles. Zone Wierenga, K'aun Green, Simeon Mitchell, and Derek Reagans III were all in on sacks.
