PACIFICA – The 2025 City College of San Francisco baseball season got underway with the Rams coming out on the losing end of a 6-4 contest at Fairmont Park on Friday.
CCSF was up 4-2 after seven innings but couldn't hold on for the win despite a solid opening-day start from Elijah Heredia. He tossed five innings and allowed just one earned run and three hits while striking out eight batters.
The Rams appeared to be on their way to the win after a two-out, two-run rally in the bottom of the seventh that gave them the lead. Kaleo Velez smacked an RBI-triple and came in to score on a single by Ray Castillo.
But Contra Costa tied it up in the top of the eighth with a pair of runs and took advantage of two CCSF errors in the ninth to score the go-ahead runs.
Velez led the Rams at the plate, going 2 for 4 with a triple, RBI, and three runs. Kaden Healy was 2 for 5 with a triple and run.
CCSF, now 0-1, is back in action on Tuesday (Jan. 28) when it plays at Contra Costa.
