Rams wrap up ninth conference championship with win at Gavilan

GILROY – City College of San Francisco completed an unbeaten run through its 2023 Coast Conference schedule by wrapping up the regular season with a 12-0 win at Gavilan College on Friday.

With a 12-0-2 conference record, the Rams edged second-place Skyline College at 9-1-2 for the Coast Conference North Division championship. It marked CCSF's ninth conference title in program history.

From the opening whistle, 11 different Rams scored early and often. Amelia Gale started the rout off with her goal in the 2nd minute. Yvette Moreno scored twice while Makalah Contreras knocked in her first goal of the season in the 42nd minute.

Melissa Cuevas (45 minutes) and Fatima Waldo Garcia (45 minutes) combined in goal for the shutout. It was the Rams 10th shutout this season and eighth in conference play.

CCSF dominated its conference opponents this season, leading the Coast in goals scored with 55 while allowing a conference-low 4 goals over the 12-game Coast Conference schedule.

With a 13-5-2 overall record, the Rams should receive one of the top seeds for the upcoming Northern California Regional Playoffs. The postseason bracket will be announced on Tuesday with first-round playoff games getting underway later in the week. CCSF should receive a first-round bye and would likely host a second-round game on Nov. 18.
