Rams look to playoffs after 3-1 win at Los Medanos to close regular season

The City College of San Francisco women's soccer team wrapped up the 2021 regular-season with a quality non-conference win, beating Bay Valley Conference champion Los Medanos College 3-1 in Pittsburg on Friday.

The Rams were able to bounce back from a tough loss to Cabrillo College on Tuesday and also managed to snap a 14-game Los Medanos winning streak.

Goals by Leslie Murillo (36th minute) and Maleah Evans (39th) gave the Rams a 2-0 lead at halftime. Alexandra Arouxet Jara's goal in the 48th minute closed out CCSF's scoring before Los Medanos was able to get on the board with a goal in the 67th minute.

Goalkeeper Alexia Estrada posted five saves for the Rams.

CCSF head coach Jeff Wilson was proud of the way his team responded to Tuesday's defeat.

"Tonight was such an important game because it matched us up against a talented league champion who is also headed into the playoffs in a week," said Wilson. "Knowing that this was going to be a tough test, I challenged the team step up and play well on both sides of the ball. They did exactly that and if we can maintain this intensity in the playoffs, who knows what can happen."

The Rams will enter the postseason with a 15-3 overall record. CCSF went 8-3 in conference play to earn a Coast Conference South Division co-championship. Seedings and matchups for the Northern California Regional Playoffs will be announced on Tuesday (Nov. 16).
