As a 32-year CCSF Physical Education Faculty Instructor, Mary Graber returns this 2022 season as the Ram’s Head Women’s Tennis Coach. Coach Graber started her CCSF Women’s Tennis coaching career in 1989 and continued this position for 15 seasons. Prior to this, Graber was a Graduate Assistant Coach for UC Berkeley’s Division I Program.

During her early years at CCSF, the Women’s Tennis Team won two Coast Conference Tennis Championships, and consistently was a top contender in the competitive Coast Conference. Several players under Graber’s guidance played at the prestigious California Community College State Championships and transferred to four-year universities.

“I am excited to return to where my career all began,” said Graber.

In addition to bringing extensive coaching experience to the program, Graber is an accomplished player, having played on a Division I tennis scholarship at Trinity University. During her collegiate years, Trinity won two third-place NCAA Division I titles.

Following college, Graber played the WTA circuit, earning a world ranking, before entering Graduate School, earning a M.S in Kinesiology.

Mary has continued to compete competitively on various USTA 5.0 leagues, and has represented her age division for Northern and Southern California Intersectional National Competition.

“I love the game and have been involved competitively since a very young age," she said.  "When coaching, I hope to share my knowledge and enthusiasm for the game in a fun, respectful environment. Integrity and passion foster hard work and commitment.  With improvement comes a heightened enjoyment of the game.

“Tennis represents LIFE.  So much can be learned about oneself and others on the court – and with a team of support and respect, an individual sport, becomes so much more!”
