City College of San Francisco swimming standout Zoellen Eichen's 2022 season has been extended to one final week. The freshman out of Sequoias High School in Redwood City has qualified for the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Swimming and Diving Championships in the 400-meter individual medley and 200-meter butterfly events.

The state championship meet is set for May 5-7 at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park.

Prelims for the 400 IM are scheduled for Friday's morning session with the 200 fly prelims set for early Saturday. Eichen is seeded 17th in the 400 IM and 12th in the 200 fly.

CCSF head coach Phong Pham is proud of Eichen's for attaining this goal.

"This is a great honor for Zoe and all the hard work, her overcoming adversities, persistence, determination, courage and will power contributed to the achievement," Pham said. "These are the two hardest events in competitive swimming. She improved tremendously from last season and throughout this season to achieve these qualifying times."

Eichen is the first CCSF swimmer to reach the state championships since the historic 2018 season that saw seven Rams swimmers compete in individual events as well as five relay events to come away with a program-best 11th-place team finish.
