Women's Water Polo Kicks Off Season at Las Positas Tournament

Fall 2019 marks the fifth season of Women’s Water Polo here at City College of San Francisco.  Head Coach Phong Pham, and Assistant Coach Natalie Taylor, are enthusiastic about the start of the season, which begins with the Ram’s first game tomorrow, Friday 9/6/2019 at Las Positas, in the Las Positas Mini Tournament.

The team will be lead this year by captains Margaux Ocampo (#5) and Yajaira Ortega (#10), who have both expressed that the team is getting fired up about the first game.  Ortega said, “it’s going to be a learning experience for sure, but our team dynamic has been really strong so far and we’re all getting excited to start playing some games.  All we can hope for is to do the best we can.”

Returning players this year include Margaux Ocampo (#5), Winnie Kong (#7), and Lan Pham (#16).  “These sophomore athletes have helped provide some guidance and support to our incoming players,” Coach Taylor stated, “but the freshman athletes are have shown a great deal of improvement so far as well.”

Tomorrow’s tournament will consist of two games for our women’s water polo team, with a 9:30am start against Las Positas, followed by a 1:15pm game time against College of San Mateo.  The full schedule can be found at the link below.
