After falling in their last two matches of September, the City College of San Francisco women's volleyball team has yet to suffer a loss in the month of October.

In the first two of four straight scheduled road matches, the Rams beat Ohlone in straight sets last Wednesday 25-18, 25-17, 25-16 before topping Mission College on Friday 25-14, 25-12, 25-11. Those were only the second and third matches that City has won in straight sets all season, as the team has now improved to 6-9 on the season with an upcoming road match against West Valley College looming this Wednesday.

Against Ohlone, freshman Zaire Best continued her impressive 2019 campaign with a team-high 13 kills, while Brittania Chan added 6 kills of her own in the victory. The team also combined for 9.5 blocks against the Renegades, who committed 11 service errors and 30 hit errors as a team against the Rams.

On Friday, it was Brittania Chan's turn to lead the way, as she turned in 14 kills, a team-high, with Best adding 8 kills and 16 assists of her own. Emilia Bullock had 14 assists as well in the straight-set win. The team also combined for 79 digs and 10 total service aces, while posting a .326 hit percentage on the day. The win against Mission was the Rams' Coast Conference opener.

West Valley (9-6) meanwhile, are winners of five out of their last seven matches, having won their own conference opener against San Jose City College on Friday in 4 sets, 25-22, 27-25, 21-25, 28-26. Freshman Hannah Moore leads the Vikings in terms of total points with 204.5 overall, including a whopping 173 kills on the season so far. The team averages 11.2 kills per set heading into the Wednesday matchup against City College, as well as nearly 2.5 service aces per set.

The Rams, who are currently 2-2 this season in away matches, are averaging 12 points per set as well as over 18.5 digs per set, a stat that could very well come into play against the hard-hitting West Valley team.
