With warmer weather and the end of winter around the corner, the City College of San Francisco women's tennis team is ready for their spring season to start.

After finishing last season tied for 3rd in the Coast Conference, the team will field a roster of 13 total players in 2020, including 6 returning players from last season and 7 newcomers. Rams head coach Kelly Hickey said she is excited for all of her players to hit the court this year.

"I am excited to see everyone play," Hickey said. "We are returning two players who competed in the 2018 season, so it will be nice to see them take the court again"

With the West Valley Tournament looming this Friday, the Rams will be able to get a true preview of what they can accomplish, come conference play in two weeks. For Hickey, her priority early on in the season is working on her team's consistency.

Last season, CCSF was able to send one doubles team and and a singles player to the California state tournament. Despite that success, Hickey feels she doesn't want to put too much pressure or expectations on the 2020 squad.

"We will have a deep roster in terms of talent, so I am excited to see how the season gets started," Hickey said. "That being said, we always have to take it one match at a time."

The Rams will kick-off conference play on Friday, February 14, when they travel south to take on Monterey Peninsula College.
