Li-Uperesa explodes for 31 points to lead CCSF in opening-night win

SAN FRANCISCO – City College of San Francisco sophomore Talo Li-Uperesa continued right where she left off last season.

The returning second-team All-State selection as well as the Coast Conference North Division Most Valuable Player made her presence felt in a big way. In Wednesday's season-opener, Li-Uperesa posted a double-double with a career-high 31 points to go along with 10 rebounds to help lead the Rams to a 73-53 victory over visiting Solano Community College.

Li-Uperesa shot 14 of 22 from the field, and added 3 blocks, 3 steals, and a pair of assists to her big night.

CCSF held a narrow 38-35 lead at halftime before pulling away in the third quarter. The Rams outscored the Falcons 15-7 and closed out the contest with a 20-point, fourth.

San Francisco also got double-digit scoring from sophomores Rianna Lee and Amira Lama. Lee totaled 12 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals while Lama posted 10 points, 7 assists, and 5 rebounds.

Sophomore Jaden Roan came off the bench to score 7 points and freshman Deonna Mayfield had 4 points and 6 rebounds.

CCSF (1-0) returns to action on Nov. 17 when the Rams will compete at the three-day Sierra College Tournament. They are set to face Lassen Community College at 1 p.m. in Thursday's opening game.
