Rams defeat CSM 78-54 and improves to 16-3

The City College of San Francisco women's basketball team defeated the College of San Mateo Bulldogs (2-2 Coast-North/6-13 Overall) 78-54 on Friday at CCSF.

The Rams ((3-0 Coast-North/16-3 Overall) started off slowly in the first quarter. The Bulldogs managed to hold the Rams to 12 first quarter points and closed to quarter with a 16-12 lead.

CCSF responded in the second quarter on both sides of the court. The Rams scored 16 second-quarter points and held the Bulldogs to eight total points in the quarter to end the half up 28-24.

The Rams continued to pick up the intensity in the second half, outscoring the Bulldogs 29-16 in the third quarter and 21-14 in the fourth quarter.

Freshman forward Zakiya Willis was a force in the paint for the Rams. Willis scored a game-high 20 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, and contributed on defense with three steals and one blocked shot.

Sophomore guard Caprice Taylor also had a strong performance with 10 points, six rebounds, three assists, and four steals.

The Rams travel to Las Positas College next Wednesday. Game time is 5 p.m.
