Heading into Wednesday's Coast Conference Championship meet in Salinas, City College of San Francisco's cross country coach Nick Torres sees his team both running and competing for champions well into the month of November.

"We expect to contend as team in the upcoming conference championships, to qualify for norcal championships, and ultimately make it as a team to the state championships," Torres said.

Starting in September, CCSF's men's and women's runners have competed in seven different meets. On the men's side, Torres said he was happy with how he has seen his runners steadily improve their individual times with every meet.

"As we move toward the end of the season we have been lead by strong performances from our freshmen," Torres said. "Even as the courses we are running on have increased in difficulty, our finishing times have still improved. Jose Salazar has been our lead runner through the season and continues to improve."

CCSF has also been able to compete against a multitude of 4-year universities, giving the Rams runners even more of a dynamic competition to grow against in their first two years of college-level running.

Following Wednesday's Coast Conference Championship, City will then look to attend the NorCal Championship on November 8th, also in Salinas, before setting their sights on the California State Championships in Fresno on November 23rd.
