CCSF Falls to Hartnell 2-1

The City College of San Francisco men's soccer team (6-2-3 Coast-North/11-2-4 overall) lost to visiting Hartnell College (9-1-2 Coast-North/14-2-3 overall) yesterday 2-1.

The game was scoreless up until the 19th minute when Hartnell's Adrian Serrato scored off an assist by Santiago Morales to put the Panthers up 1-0.

The Rams had an opportunity to tie the game at the 34th minute when CCSF had a free kick just outside of Hartnell's goal area. Unfortunately, freshman midfielder Taiki Kajitani's free kick was blocked by Hartnell's wall of defenders.

The score remained at 1-0 up until the 44th minute when Hartnell's Jorge Cerna scored off an assist by Luis Mendoza to push their lead to 2-0 at the end of the half.

Down 2-0, CCSF switched tactics come the second half, opting for an aggressive offensive attack against Hartnell's defenders. The Rams finally broke through at the 83rd minute when freshman forward Alejandro Perez scored an unassisted goal to cut Hartnell's lead to 2-1.

Although the Rams continued put pressure on Hartnell's defense, time was not on their side.

The Rams are now in third place in the competitive Coast-North. Their final game will be this Friday against division foe Las Positas (8-0-4 Coast-North/12-3-6 overall). Kickoff is at 1pm at CCSF.
