The City College of San Francisco men’s basketball team increased their winning streak to 17 games after last week’s wins against Las Positas College and Skylline College.

The two wins improves the Rams record to an amazing 21-1, and are currently sitting in first place atop the Coast-North Conference with a record of 5-0.

The Rams dominated the Las Positas Hawks (2-3 Coast-North/14-7 Overall) in last Wednesday’s 86-58 win at Livermore.

The Rams received contributions from up and down the lineup. Guard Eddie Stansberry led all scorers with 19 points and shot 5-of-11 from three-point range. The performance from CCSF’s reserves tipped the scale of the contest in the Rams favor, outscoring the Hawks’ bench 35-15. Guard Curtis Witt led all bench scorers with 18 points.

CCSF’s defense was particular stingy, holding Las Positas to just 33.8 percent shooting (23-of-68) and caused 22 turnovers.

The Rams continued their torrid start to the season on Friday, defeating visiting Skyline Trojans 76-58.

CCSF’s defense once again proved that they are one of the top units in the state. The Rams, who are no. 8 in the state in points allowed per game (63.6 pts), held the Trojans (1-4 Coast-North/9-12 Overall) to 31.7 percent shooting (19-of-60). The Rams perimeter defense denied Skyline any success from beyond the arc. Skyline shot 15.4 percent from three-point range (4-of-26 3pt).

Guard Dexter Hood led the way for the Rams offense, scoring a team-high 15 points.

The Rams travel to Ohlone this Wednesday for a 7 p.m. game.
