VENTURA, Calif. – Top-ranked City College of San Francisco spoiled Allan Hancock College's return to the California Community College Athletic Association Men's Basketball Tournament for the first time in 44 years, eliminating the Bulldogs, 86-63, in a quarterfinal game Friday evening at Ventura College                     

Terrill Brown, a 6-0 sophomore guard out of Moreau Catholic High School (Hayward) had 22 points and nine rebounds to lead the Rams (31-1) into a 7 p.m. Saturday semifinal match with Cerritos College of Norwalk (27-5). Cerritos won its quarterfinal over Yuba College, 83-77. 

Eddie Stansberry, a 6-3 sophomore guard out of San Francisco's Riordan High School, had 15 of his 17 points (including four 3-pointers) in the first half as CCSF took a 44-36 mid-game lead. Hancock led the first ten minutes until the Rams got into gear. Down 24-21, Stansberry and Brown put on a 7-point spurt to put San Francisco ahead for good, 28-24. Stansberry also had nine rebounds, four assists and two steals. 

The Rams were never seriously threatened after the break and steadily increased their margin down the stretch. Lewis Hayes tallied 15 points off the bench for CCSF.

Shane Carney, a 5-9 sophomore guard from Narbonne High (Los Angeles) led Hancock with 23 points. He had 13 first half points, including a trio of three's. Devin Davis added 11 points and Glenn Jordan had ten points and five assists for the Bulldogs.

CCSF has won 27 games since its only loss, 90-63, to College of the Sequoias in the Fresno City College tournament on Nov. 17. 

San Francisco won recent state titles in 2011 and 2016 

Hancock (23-10) was making its state championship tourney appearance since 1974 when it won the title.
