The City College of San Francisco men's basketball team defeated visiting Las Positas Hawks (4-7 Coast-North/16-11 Overall) 75-71 on Friday night at CCSF.

The win increases the Rams win streak to 22 games and are now 10-0 in the Coast-North Conference (26-1 overall).

The Rams, who normally play at an up-tempo pace, were slowed down by Las Positas' zone defense and deliberate half-court offense.  CCSF, who averages 97 points per game, were held to 33 points at the end of the first half and trailed the Hawks 34-33.

The low-scoring affair continued into the second half. Both teams were tied 37-37 with four minutes into the second half.

But the Rams adjusted to the Hawks by utilizing forward Michael Steadman in the post and penetrating the Hawks zone to create scoring opportunities down low and mid-range. The adjustment helped push the lead to 47-39 with nearly 11 minutes remaining in the game.

When the Rams established their post play and continued their ball-hawking defense, the Hawks began to unravel. The Rams got into a good offensive rhythm and jumped to a 54-41 lead with 9:45 remaining.

But the Hawks continued to stick around and nailed  four consecutive three pointers in the final minutes of the game, eventually coming in within three points of the Rams (74-71) with 14 seconds left. The Hawks attempted a three point but missed and fouled Eddie Stansberry and he converted 1-of-2 free throws to seal the 75-71 win.

Steadman finished the game with a team-high 21 points. Forward Michael Wright followed with 12 points.
