The San Francisco-Oakland football rivalry takes center stage this weekend at the City College of San Francisco.

The CCSF Rams (7-3 overall) will host the Laney College Eagles (8-2 overall) on Saturday for the San Francisco Community College Bowl Game, with the winner of this gridiron showdown claiming bragging rights to this bitter rivalry.
The CCSF Rams finished the regular season as one of the top offensive units in the state. CCSF finished no.5 in total offensive yards with 4,949. Sophomore running back Namane Modise, who was recently named the California Football Conference (CFC) Offensive Player of the Year, leads an impressive ground attack that racked up 2,099 rushing yards. Modise's 1,013 rushing yards and 101.3 rushing yards per game ranked him no.2 and no.5 in the state in those respective categories. Paving the way all year for the shifty Modise and the Rams' vaunted running attack has been sophomore offensive linemen Robert Valencia, Jean Eason, and Elliot Baker. Valencia and Eason were named to the CFC All-League Team.
On defense, the Rams ranked no.17 overall in yards allowed per game (325.9 yards) and no. 17 in points allowed per game (23.3 points). The defense was led by a trio of sophomores in linebacker Chaz Briggs, defensive back Deante Fortenberry, and defensive lineman Raymond Ellis -- all three were named to the CFC All-League Team. Briggs finished the regular season with 49 total tackles (11 were tackles for losses). Fortenberry finished the season with 51 total tackles and led the team in defensive breakups and interceptions with nine and three, respectively. Ellis finished the year with 12 tackles and two sacks and proved to be a lane-clogger for would-be opposing running backs looking for space to run.
The last time these two teams met was on opening day, September 2 at Laney College with CCSF losing that closely-contested game 13-18. Laney effectively used their running game to set up scoring opportunities against CCSF. They totaled 180 yards on the ground.
Like the first matchup this year, this game will once again be a showdown between the Rams' defense and Laney's rushing attack. The Rams will look to stop an Eagles team that finished the regular season with 2,516 rushing yards – no. 4 in the state. The freshmen running-back duo of Marcel Dancy and Ahmari Davis paced the team in rushing with 844 yards and 614 yards, respectively.
