CCSF Rams Football Home-Opener Against Siskiyous

by Marcus Tolero

The CCSF Rams (State Rank No.12) home-opener is this Saturday when they host the Siskiyous Eagles (State Rank No.16) at 1pm. The Rams will look to bounce back against the Eagles after last week's 13-18 loss to Laney College.

Although CCSF opened the season with a loss, there were a few shining moments from last Friday's game. Sophomore wide receiver Chikwado Nzerem filled up the stat sheet with six receptions, 158 yards receiving, and one 80-yard touchdown reception. Sophomore wide receiver Easop Winston also had an impressive game by posting a game-high eight receptions, 89 yards receiving, and a touchdown reception.  On defense, freshman defensive back Michael Lawson posted a stat line of seven tackles and one 41-yard interception. Sophomore linebacker Chaz Briggs proved to be a defensive stalwart after totaling a game-high 10 tackles, three of which were for losses.

The Rams will face a Siskiyous team that is coming off last Saturday's 21-7 win over Chabot. Although the Eagles only totaled 252 yards of total offense, it was their defense that proved to tip the balance of the game in their favor. Led by linebacker Johnathon Warner (11 tackles, one sack), the Eagles allowed only 250 yards of total offense, compiled eight sacks, forced four turnovers, and totaled 15 tackles for losses.

The Rams Sept. 10th home-opener matchup against Siskiyous will be a showdown between the Rams' offense and the Eagles stout defense.
