CCSF Sweet 16 Playoff Preview

The City College of San Francisco Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams are one step closer to advancing to the California Community College Athletic Association State Championship round. A sweet-16 round win for both teams this Saturday will advance them to that round,

No. 1 CCSF men’s basketball team (28-1) advanced to the CCCAA Sweet 16 after dominating the no.16 Consumnes Rivers 92-71.  The rams were led by Coast- North Conference MVP Malcom Johnson , who scored a game high 18 points.  Forward Jason Ricketts was second on team scoring 17points off the bench.

The Rams sweet 16 opponent will be no. 9 Canada College. Canada is coming off a 64-58 win over Cabrillo College. The Rams and Colts met on January 11, Rams defeating the Colts (82-69) and February 6 were the Rams defeated the Colts again (90-72).

Saturdays game between the Rams and Colts will be the 3rdtime these two teams will see each other this season..

No. 5 CCSF Women’s Basketball team (23-3) continue their winning streak by beating Fresno City College 86-74.  The Rams received contributions from multiple people on their roster. Freshman Errayanna Hatfield led the team with a double-double, 23 points and 12 rebounds. Starter Vivian Woo added 16 points, with two huge three points in the fourth quarter. Anissah Dorsey came up big for the Rams adding 14 points and 6 assist off the bench.

 The Lady Rams will be on the road Saturday, March 9 taking on the no. 4 College of Sequioas (27-3), who are coming off a dominating win over Solano College (58-41). The Giants were led by Janelle Sumilong scoring 15 points, 7 rebounds and 6 steals.  

 Saturday’s game will be a battle between two top teams in the North.  Both are averaging over 75 points per game and both only have 3 loses throughout their regular season.
